It's not really "access to" the computer, as such, it's more like you want to run this software on the computer.
If you mean you want to run it on the machine where the computer is on, then it's generally a bad idea to do that. There are security issues with running software on the computer where the computer itself is.
If you want to run it on a different computer, and then have it log data to the server, you'll need a way to "pass through" information to that other computer. This is called a network connection.
